Michael Martin Murphey Lone Cowboy Campfire Concert

Michael Martin Murphey, America’s #1 selling cowboy music singer presents classic cowboy songs and his original music in an intimate solo concert that tells the tale of the Old West and cowboy life that John Wayne portrayed so vividly in many of his films.

A six-time Cowboy Hall of Fame Award Winner and winner of the Texas Music Awards Song of the Year, Murphey’s first album made him the “best new songwriter in the nation” said Chet Flippo of Rolling Stone magazine. His song “Wildfire” is one of radio’s most played songs, in all formats. His Cowboy Songs was the first album of cowboy music to achieve gold status since Marty Robbins, and Jack Hurst of Chicago Tribune said “His Cowboy Songs album is a classic.”

SPECIAL SCREENING OF THE JOHN WAYNE FILM “THE COWBOYS”

The CowboysFinally, your chance to view Mark Rydell’s 1972 classic John Wayne film the way it was meant to be seen, on a giant 25-foot screen with pristine, crystal clarity! This is not a run-of-the-mill showing but a high-definition digital cinema projection that’s actually better than when the film was first shown in theatres! Robert Surtees’ top-notch Western cinematography captures the beauty of the wide open landscapes and every wrinkle on Duke’s face. With music by John Williams and performances by Robert Carradine (in his film debut), Colleen Dewhurst, Slim Pickens, Roscoe Lee Browne and Bruce Dern in a very memorable role, this is an event not to be missed!

SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY ACTOR ROBERT CARRADINE

Robert CarradineRobert Carradine launched his film career with role of young Slim Honeycutt, one of the boys John Wayne recruits for his cattle drive in The Cowboys. One of Hollywood’s busiest actors, he recently finished shooting the Hallmark Channel’s Jane Doe, the feature film Deep Winter in Utah and the national tour of the award-winning play The Exonerated. He’s still seen daily on the Disney Channel as bemused dad to Hilary Duff in the highly successful Lizzie McGuire TV series and movie. Over his 35-year career as an actor, writer, producer and director, he has more than 100 film, television and theatre credits to his name. Robert was literally born into acting as the youngest son of the legendary John Carradine, who appeared in four of John Wayne’s films. An acting dynasty was born with brothers Keith and David, niece Martha Plimpton, and Robert’s own daughter Ever Carradine.

Proceeds from this special fund-raising event benefit the new John Wayne Museum and Learning Center.
