Friday, May 29th at the brand-new Jackson Building at the Madison County Fairgrounds you’ll enjoy a very special evening. Social hour is at 6pm, with a delicious meal at 7pm.

One of the top-ranked female vocalists in any genre, she is best known for her megahit “Rose Garden” which won her a Best Female Country Vocal Grammy and the Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year. An avid horsewoman with a long horse racing career, she has won numerous national championships and still raises horses on her ranch in New Mexico.

Birthplace of John WayneFrom 10:00am to 6:00pm on Friday, May 29th and Saturday, May 30th, take a tour of the home where Marion Robert Morrison was born on May 26, 1907. The house features a unique collection of John Wayne memorabilia including such items as an eyepatch from True Grit, a prop suitcase used in the film Stagecoach, and a hat from Rio Lobo.

Western Mercantile MarketplaceBe sure to visit the marketplace at the Madison County Fairgrounds with fabulous western-related merchandise and fantastic food to delight the palate.

MARKETPLACE HOURS: The Western Mercantile Marketplace will be open 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 29th and 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30th. There is no admission charge! Parking is available on the grounds for $5.00 per vehicle.

Carin Mari and Pony Express consists of Carin and older brother Colin on the Flat Iron mandolin, and younger brother Evan on bass guitar. SPECIAL BIG-SCREEN OUTDOOR FREE SHOWING OF RIO BRAVO

Saturday, May 30th at 9:00 p.m. bring your blankets or lawn chairs and gather under the stars at the Fairgrounds with your fellow John Wayne fans for a special 50th anniversary showing of the 1959 Howard Hawks classic Rio Bravo on a giant, 25-foot screen.

This is a special high-definition digital cinema projection with pristine crystal clarity that’s actually better than when the film was first shown in theatres! Popcorn and drinks will be available.


DEAN MARTIN’S DAUGHTER DEANA VISITS SATURDAY, MAY 30TH

Deana will be available to sign autographs and greet visitors Saturday at the Fairgrounds, and will also attend the VIP Fund Raising Event on Friday evening. Rio Bravo, she says, was her father’s favorite film. Deana is an internationally-known singer, actress and author, with a top-ten album “Memories Are Made of This” and a best-selling book “Memories Are Made of This: Dean Martin Through His Daughter’s Eyes” soon to be a major motion picture directed by Joe Montegna with screenplay written by Bonnie Hunt.

True Grit Special Edition DVD

FREE BIG-SCREEN SHOWINGS OF TRUE GRIT SATURDAY, MAY 30TH

11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the Jackson Community Building on the Fairgrounds, join us for a FREE special 40th Anniversary Presentation of True Grit in a crisp digital cinema projection on a giant, 25-foot screen. Duke earned his only Best Actor Academy Award for his performance as drunken U.S. Marshal Rooster Cogburn, hired by 14-year old Mattie Ross (Kim Darby) to capture her father’s murderer. They’re joined by Glen Campbell as a young Texas Ranger (Campbell also sings the film’s theme song). Featuring a stellar cast including Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper and more, and directed by Henry Hathaway, True Grit remains a classic film.

A. C. Lyles Luster Bayless

At 4:00 p.m., right before the 5:00 p.m. showing only, join legendary Paramount producer and long-time John Wayne friend A. C. Lyles and Duke’s personal costumer Luster Bayless for an animated discussion about the making of True Grit.

Special Edition DVDs of the film will be available at the showings.
